Chublet is at present testing her vocabulary and her ability to interpret what she sees, particularly when we are driving, thus this conversation happens at very regular intervals.

Chublet: Mummy – water!

Me: No sweetie, that’s the horizon, it’s where the curvature of the earth, combined with the limits of our vision make it look as if the land and the sky meet. Here in Sydney the evaporating oils of the Eucalypts make a blueish tinge to the horizon, and so it sometimes looks a bit like water.

Chublet: Oh… Mummy – water!
